Land Rover IIa ute - Driveline

Engine is a factory Land Rover 3.5litre V8 from a Series 3 Stage 1. It is running electronic ignition and will be setup to operate on petrol and LPG gas.

Exhaust TBA.

Snorkel TBA.

Manual Transmission unit is a factory LT95 4 speed unit. This gearbox is supposed to be strong and ready for the rigours of hard 4WDing.

Transfer case is intergral with the LT95 gearbox.

CDL is vacuum operated via a cabin mounted vacuum switch.

Fuel is to be setup initialy as petrol, and later to also use LPG.

Propshaft Front has been built by Tom Wood's shafts in the USA. It is a uni -> uni long slip shaft using 1310 universal joints..

Propshaft Rear has been built by Tom Wood's shafts in the USA. It is a uni -> uni long slip shaft using 1310 universal joints..

Axles are Toyota Land Cruiser 60 series axles. These were chosen for their width, strength and having the diffs correctly offset. The front diff was almost bolt in, and the rears required the use of replacement spring perches and the setting of the pinion angle. The diffs are significantly stronger in the Crownwheel and pinion by size and design, and the axle half shafts are also larger in diameter and full floating units if they require field replacement. These axles should be strong enough to run the 37" tyres which are installed on the vehicle.
